German as a Foreign Language

The Centre for German as a Foreign Language offers «Deutsch als Fremdsprache» modules 1–4 to students who are learning German or who speak it as a second language.

These courses provide students with an opportunity to develop their knowledge of German grammar, to improve their understanding of German texts, to learn to express themselves more fluently in German and to build on their spoken and written linguistic competence in the German language. The modules, which are offered at two levels of ability, comprise exercises in grammar and vocabulary, reading and writing, and pronunciation. Students can also practise making presentations in German on subjects relevant to the discipline they are studying.

The ZHAW’s Centre for German as a Foreign Language also offers courses open to the general public for people learning German at all levels.
